Retirees Welcome American Jobs Plan

Praise Provisions to Expand Home and Community-based Long Term Care Services

The following statement was issued by Richard Fiesta, Executive Director of the Alliance for Retired Americans, regarding President Biden’s American Jobs Plan:

“The bold plan President Biden announced today will create millions of good-paying jobs, strengthen retirement security, and make critical investments in our nation’s infrastructure and economy. It also advances the President’s goal of providing support to the most vulnerable Americans and their caregivers.

“The pandemic has taken a terrible toll on older Americans and their caregivers and highlighted the need to better protect and support these Americans. The American Jobs Plan will allow hundreds of thousands more Americans to receive the long-term care and services they need at home, rather than an institution. The plan will also create new caregiving jobs, with increased wages and benefits, and provide these essential workers with the opportunity to organize or join a union.

“On behalf of the 4.4 million members of the Alliance for Retired Americans, I call on Congress to quickly take action on the President’s plan so we can build a stronger future for all Americans.”
