Rebecca Freund

Rebecca Freund, 62, has Medicare to thank for her medical needs being met the past 9 years. With her disability, she says she might be out on the street without Medicare.

“I want to do everything I can possibly do to fight back against cuts and privatization, and for expansion – not just for me, but for my friends and kids and grandchildren yet to come,” says Rebecca. “It’s not just a theoretical game to us in the hinterlands.”

Together with Social Security, she is deeply appreciative that older people have a guaranteed contract with the government – and she doesn’t want that to change.

Rebecca can’t understand why older people would vote for House Speaker Paul Ryan. She says he is too close to insurance companies and that corporations can do no wrong in his eyes.

“There’s going to be one hell of a revolution in D.C. if Republicans try to mess with Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid!” she concluded.
