President Trump Can’t Stop Talking About His Plans to Cut Social Security

August 8 Remarks Are Latest in a Long Line

Statement of Richard Fiesta, Executive Director of the Alliance for Retired Americans, on President Trump’s Continuing Assault on Social Security and Medicare.

“Donald Trump has spent 2020 telling the American public that he wants to cut Social Security and Medicare.

“It’s past time to start taking him literally and seriously — no matter how many times his advisers go on TV to do damage control and spin their way out of it.

“Maya Angelou famously said, ‘When someone tells you who they are, believe them.’ Older Americans have heard time and again from President Trump, through his words and his actions, that he will cut Social Security and Medicare. Seniors – and everyone who hopes for a secure retirement – must remember this when they cast their ballots in November.”

President Donald Trump, in his own words:

PRESIDENT TRUMP: —big percentage.

JOE KERNEN: —to do some of the things that you said you wouldn’t do in the past, though, in terms of Medicare–

  1. I am very concerned regarding the proposed cuts to Medicare and Social Security. Does our President and Congress realize that seniors are dependent on this income? It isn’t like we can just go out and obtain employment to pay for our living expenses. We worked long and hard in our productive years for these promised benefits in our retirement years. Please honor those promises.

  2. Speaker Pelosi must immediately continue the impeachment investigations! Creditable national organizations and experts have called for over 25 or so articles of impeachment. Most recently messing with the US Mail is an article of impeachment along with rigging the Nov. 3rd elections, etc.

Congress, at least the House can walk and chew gum at the same time – I’m not certain of Leader McConnell and his crew.

The House must pass groups of 3 or 4 easily proven articles of impeachment against the President and forward each set the Senate for trial NOW! Then the Senate will be forced to deal with each trial as the election looms ever closer and the good Republicans will be in a dither as to whether they should or should not support the US Constitution and thus win or lose their Nov. 3rd elections. Of course impeachment will focus the mind of our President, if that is every possible.

Ms. Pelosi must have the political courage to save America’s democratic form of representative government BEFORE our President calls the Nov. 3rd election a fraud and thus he is NOT going to leave the White House, etc. etc.

  3. THIS and Trump’s efforts to endanger Medicare and eliminate the Affordable Care Act are the three things we should ALL be talking about, over and over, without pause, relentlessly between now and Election Day!

THIS is not only a Winning Issue for those of us who oppose Trump, it’s also imperative to raise public awareness of this ASAP regardless of the upcoming election’s outcome.

Social Security, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act with its VERY popular feature prohibiting exclusion from coverage due to “preexisting conditions” is a currently overlooked point of vulnerability for Trump. Let’s make sure EVERYONE knows about his history and prior statements on these three vital federal programs.

When ALL VOTERS realize what is at stake here with their own futures…they might rethink their prior support for the man currently occupying the White House. As they should given his horrific plans for the future of Social Security, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act.
