Expand Social Security Caucus Members

The Alliance joined coalition partner organizations on Thursday, September 13 to announce the Expand Social Security Congressional Caucus, a new congressional group aimed at expanding, protecting and strengthening Social Security for all Americans.

Hosted by Senators Bernie Sanders (VT) and Elizabeth Warren (MA) and Representatives Debbie Dingell (MI), Raúl Grijalva, (AZ), Conor Lamb (PA), John Larson (CT) and Terri Sewell, the Expand Social Security Caucus is now the largest congressional caucus with more than 150 members in both the House and Senate.

Those of us who lose thousands of dollars in Social Security benefits every year because of the Government Pension Offset and the Windfall Elimination Provision are waiting to hear how you will get rid of these grossly unfair penalties against public servants. I was a non-earning dependent spouse for 20 years before earning half a teacher pension. That means I get NO Social Security benefits. The money my husband paid in all those years was legally half mine also. Why do I get nothing back? Why aren’t you supporting the two and a half million of us who are being cheated?
