Seniors From Around the Country Unite Against GOP and Trump’s Project 2025 Efforts to Slash Benefits
Washington, DC – On the 59th anniversary of Medicare being signed into law, members of the Alliance for Retired Americans from across the country convened on Capitol Hill to spotlight the dangers posed to Medicare by Trump’s Project 2025. Seniors gave their unfiltered thoughts in front of the Heritage Foundation’s DC headquarters and in between meetings with congressional members’ staff around the Capitol complex.
Rich Fiesta, Executive Director, Alliance for Retired Americans, said: “This is the 59th anniversary of Medicare and we want to keep it strong so that there is a 60th and a 61st, and we’re here at the Heritage Foundation because this is Donald Trump’s buddies who have a plan to totally privatize the program. Under their plan, everyone would be put into a for-profit company … This is a backward Project 2025 program based on greed.”
Mike Crossey, a retired teacher from Pennsylvania, added: “This is about keeping Social Security. This election is about healthcare for retirees. This election is about a secure retirement for every single person who retires in this country. It’s about protecting Medicare. This election is about the future of our country.”
