Retiree Group Endorses Maria Cantwell for Reelection to U.S. Senate
Cites Her Commitment to Protecting Earned Social Security and Medicare Benefits
Federal Way, WA – Members of the Alliance for Retired Americans proudly announced their endorsement of Senator Maria Cantwell for reelection to the U.S. Senate from Washington State today. The Washington State Alliance for Retired Americans is a grassroots advocacy organization with more than 94,000 members across the state.
“Sen. Cantwell has already proven as a member of the U.S. Senate that she will look out for older Washingtonians in the U.S. Senate. She earned a perfect score of 100% in the Alliance’s annual Congressional Voting Record in 2023,” said Jackie Boschok, President of the Washington State Alliance. “We trust her to work to strengthen and protect our hard earned Social Security and Medicare benefits. She knows that 1.4 million Washingtonians rely on Social Security payments every month and she will work to ensure they are there for current and future generations.”
In addition, Ms. Boschok praised Sen. Cantwell’s vote for the landmark legislation which is lowering drug prices for seniors across Washington State. Thanks to her work, Medicare is now required to negotiate lower prices for seniors on some of the most expensive drugs. Medicare beneficiaries’ out of pocket drug costs are capped at $2,000 a year and insulin copays are capped at $35 per month.
“The stakes couldn’t be higher for seniors like me. We need Maria Cantwell in the Senate fighting against any effort to cut Social Security and Medicare,” added Boschok.
