Retiree Group Endorses Jill Schupp for U.S. House
Cites Commitment to Expanding and Protecting Earned Social Security
and Medicare Benefits
Ballwin, MO – Members of the Alliance for Retired Americans proudly announced their endorsement of Jill Schupp for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District today. The Missouri Alliance is a grassroots advocacy organization with more than 80,000 members across the state.
“Jill Schupp takes nothing for granted, and Missouri retirees are confident that she will look out for older people in Washington,” said Dave Meinell, president of the Missouri Alliance for Retired Americans. “Over the years, Senator Schupp has worked consistently to benefit and improve the lives of the elderly. She knows that seniors in her district live on fixed incomes, and she will battle every day to protect our retirement security.”
Senator Schupp was elected to the State Senate in 2014 and previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2008 to 2014. She would bring expertise in retiree issues to Congress, having served in the Legislature on the Health and Pensions and Seniors, Families and Children committees. She accepted the endorsement virtually via Zoom, forgoing an in-person event due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has claimed more than 195,000 American lives, 80 percent of whom are over the age of 65.
“I am honored and delighted to receive the Alliance’s endorsement,” said Senator Schupp. “I am so proud to do the work so all American seniors can have a secure retirement. I will take the passion that I have and the issues that I care about to Washington.”
Meinell also noted the $500 billion in proposed Medicare cuts by the Trump Administration and the rising concern among seniors about the cost of healthcare in the midst of a pandemic.
“Now more than ever, it is vital that we have representatives in Washington who care about older Missourians and vote accordingly,” emphasized Meinell. “In these uncertain times, voting for the right person is literally a matter of life or death.”
