Retiree Group Endorses Chris Deluzio for Reelection to U.S. House

Cites His Commitment to Expanding and Protecting Earned Social Security and Medicare Benefits

Pittsburgh, PA – Members of the Alliance for Retired Americans proudly announced their endorsement of Rep. Chris Deluzio for reelection to the U.S. House from Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District today. The Pennsylvania Alliance for Retired Americans is a grassroots advocacy organization with more than 27,000 members in the district.

“Rep. Deluzio has proven that he will look out for Pennsylvania seniors. He has earned a 100% pro-retiree score in the Alliance’s annual congressional voting record,” said Mike Crossey, President of the Pennsylvania Alliance for Retired Americans. “We trust him to work to strengthen and increase our hard-earned Social Security and Medicare benefits. He knows that 2.9 million people in Pennsylvania rely on Social Security benefits every month. With another term, Chris will continue the fight for our earned benefits for current and future generations.”

I believe that every American should be able to retire with dignity and security. That’s why in Congress, I have been fighting hard to protect and expand Social Security, which is so critical to the economic security every retired American has earned. I am honored to have earned the Alliance for Retired Americans’ endorsement,” said Representative Deluzio.

Rep. Deluzio’s opponent, Rob Mercuri, voted against a bill to protect seniors from financial exploitation as a member of the Pennsylvania state legislature.

In addition, Mr. Crossey praised Rep. Deluzio’s support for legislation to lower drug costs by requiring Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors; cap out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000 a year; cap insulin copays at $35 per month; and make necessary vaccines free for all Medicare beneficiaries.

“The stakes couldn’t be higher for seniors like me. We need Chris Deluzio in the House fighting against any Republican plan to cut Social Security and Medicare,” added Mr. Crossey. “That’s why Chris Deluzio is the clear choice for Pennsylvania seniors.”
