Steve Barger – At-Large Executive Vice President

Steve Barger is the At-Large Executive Vice President of the Alliance for Retired Americans. A retired member of the Carpenters’ Union with 55 years of service, he worked as a pile driver and construction carpenter.

Barger brings decades of leadership to the Alliance. He served as Secretary-Treasurer and Business Manager of the Kentucky State District Council of Carpenters and has been deeply engaged in community and worker advocacy throughout his career. A longtime champion of workers’ rights, he served as President of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, where he focused on retirement security, health care, and pension issues. He has also held board positions with the St. Louis Federal Reserve and the Kentucky Chapter of the A. Philip Randolph Institute.

In addition, Barger has been a strong advocate for continuing education, serving as Chair of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.

Within the Alliance for Retired Americans, Barger serves as Treasurer of the Kentucky Alliance and was a member of the Community Advocacy Network (CAN) Board for four years before joining the National Board.
