Alliance for Retired Americans Enthusiastically Endorses Kamala Harris for President

Washington, DC — Citing her record of commitment to strengthening retirement security, the Alliance for Retired Americans, a national grassroots advocacy organization, today endorsed Kamala Harris to be President of the United States.

The Alliance has 4.4 million members nationwide including more than 900,000 who live in the battleground states of Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

“Older Americans can trust Kamala Harris. She not only respects older Americans, but she has worked to protect their best interests. As President, she will fight to strengthen Social Security and Medicare and increase benefits, continue to lower drug prices and protect retirees’ hard earned pensions,” said Robert Roach, Jr., President of the Alliance.

As a U.S. Senator, Harris earned a perfect score of 100% in the Alliance for Retired Americans Congressional Voting Record. As Vice President, Harris cast tie-breaking votes that helped millions of seniors by lowering the price of prescription drugs and protected at least 2 million Americans’ earned pension benefits.

“Vice President Harris’ vote ensured that Medicare beneficiaries who need insulin are paying no more than a $35 a month copay and all their recommended vaccines are now free. Her vote ensured that out of pocket spending on prescription drugs for seniors with Medicare Part D is capped at $3,200 this year, and next year will go down to $2,000,” Roach continued. “The Biden-Harris administration also forced wealthy pharmaceutical corporations to negotiate lower drug prices with Medicare for the first time in history, which will save seniors and taxpayers billions of dollars over the next several years.”

“In addition, Harris’ vote to pass the Butch Lewis Act, as part of the American Rescue Plan, helped Joe Biden save millions of workers’ and retirees’ pensions. Thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration, 2 to 3 million workers’ pension plans now are solvent and able to pay full benefits through at least 2051.

“The best way to enhance Social Security and Medicare and lower health care costs is to elect Kamala Harris and a Democratic House and Senate,” said Roach. “Our members will make sure their friends and family are knowledgeable about the unparalleled success of the Biden-Harris administration. They will do what seniors are best known for every election season: making phone calls, knocking on doors and providing accurate information about when and where to

vote. We will work enthusiastically every day to make sure Kamala Harris is the next occupant of the White House.”
