Retiree Group Endorses Janelle Stelson for Election to U.S. House
Cites Her Commitment to Protecting Earned Social Security and Medicare Benefits
York, PA – The Alliance for Retired Americans proudly announced its endorsement of Janelle Stelson for election to the U.S House from Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District today. The Alliance is a grassroots advocacy organization with more than 4.4 million members, including more than 13,300 in Pennsylvania’s 10th CD.
“Janelle Stelson understands the challenges facing older Americans, and retirees in Pennsylvania can be confident that she will fight for our interests in Washington,” said Mike Crossey, President of the Pennsylvania Alliance for Retired Americans. “She’s the best candidate to defeat Rep. Scott Perry, who has earned a lifetime score of just 5% in the Alliance for Retired Americans annual Congressional Voting Record.”
“We trust Janelle to work to preserve our hard earned Social Security and Medicare benefits. She knows that nearly 2.9 million Pennsylvanians rely on Social Security benefits every month,” Crossey continued.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Alliance for Retired Americans. When elected, I will be unwavering in my commitment to safeguard and enhance benefits for retirees. I will ensure that older Americans receive the support and resources they need to retire with dignity and security,” said Ms. Stelson.
Rep. Perry has supported raising the retirement age. He opposed legislation to lower drug costs by requiring Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors; cap out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000 a year; cap insulin copays at $35 per month; and make necessary vaccines free for all Medicare beneficiaries. Ms. Stelson supports the legislation and also supports expanding Medicare price negotiation beyond 10 drugs — and beyond Medicare — as soon as possible.
“The stakes couldn’t be higher for seniors like me. We need Janelle Stelson in the House fighting against any Republican plan to cut Social Security and Medicare,” added Mr. Crossey. “That’s why Janelle Stelson is the obvious choice for Pennsylvania seniors.”
