Alliance for Retired Americans Endorses Senator Jon Tester, Names Him 2024 Retiree Hero
“From taking on the big pharmaceutical companies to save Montanans money on their prescription drugs, to relentlessly defending our hard-earned retirements, Jon Tester never shies away from a fight.”
BILLINGS, MT – Members of the Alliance for Retired Americans today endorsed U.S. Senator Jon Tester for re-election to the Senate and named him a 2024 Retiree Hero in recognition of his 93% Lifetime Pro-Retiree score in the Alliance’s annual Congressional Voting Record.
“Senator Tester stands up for Montana seniors everyday – and has delivered for us. He’s lowered the cost of living, held criminals who attempt to scam older Montanans accountable, and increased access to quality, affordable health care,” Montana Alliance for Retired Americans President Jay Reardon said. “Tester has spent his career fighting to protect Medicare and Social Security, and he’ll always protect the hard-earned benefits that provide a secure retirement for Montana seniors.”
“I am honored to stand alongside the Montana Alliance for Retired Americans to defend Montana’s seniors,” said Senator Jon Tester. “As long as I am in the U.S. Senate, I will never cut Social Security – full stop. In the face of so many attacks from politicians across the country, it’s more important than ever to fight to protect Social Security and Medicare, fight to lower prescription drug costs, and pass new laws defending seniors and their families from scammers. I will never stop fighting for Montana seniors and to protect the earned benefits that provide a dignified retirement.”
“Nobody fights harder or delivers more for older Montanans and working families than Senator Tester,” Reardon continued. “From taking on the big pharmaceutical companies to save Montanans money on their prescription drugs, to relentlessly defending our hard-earned retirements, Jon Tester never shies away from a fight. Montana seniors are lucky to have him in our corner.”
“Thanks to Senator Tester, nearly 25,000 Montana seniors who take some of the most expensive drugs will save thousands of dollars on their prescriptions in 2026,” said Reardon, who noted that Tester was the only member of Montana’s congressional delegation to vote for the Inflation Reduction Act.
Reardon also praised Tester’s work to crack down on scammers who are targeting older Montanans. Tester introduced and passed the bipartisan Senior Fraud Prevention Act, which instructs the Federal Trade Commission to direct resources to fight fraud targeting the elderly and help seniors and their families avoid scams.
