Retiree Group Endorses Tom Suozzi for Election to U.S. House
Cites Commitment to Expanding and Protecting Earned Social Security and Medicare Benefits, Lowering Drug Prices
Levittown, NY – Members of the Alliance for Retired Americans proudly announced their endorsement of Tom Suozzi for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from New York’s 3rd Congressional District in the February 13, 2024 special election.
“Tom Suozzi has a track record of fighting for older New Yorkers. He earned a perfect score of 100% in the Alliance’s annual Congressional Voting Record in 2022 and has a lifetime score of 97%,” said Stan Bergman, New York State Alliance Long Island Chapter President and resident of the third Congressional District. “He knows that thousands of seniors in our district rely on the Social Security and Medicare benefits they have earned — we can trust him to fight for them.”
“I am grateful for the support and endorsement of the Alliance for Retired Americans,” said Suozzi. “This will be a tough race, and knowing that the more than 30,000 members of ARA here in NY03 are with me means a great deal to me. I am excited to take back this seat and continue to fight for the seniors in our district who rely on the Social Security and Medicare benefits they have earned. Let’s fix this!”
In addition, Bergman noted that thanks to Suozzi’s votes in 2022, millions of older Americans are paying less for their prescription drugs. He voted for the landmark 2022 law requiring Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors, cap out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000 a year and cap insulin copays at $35 a month. He also co-sponsored legislation that would increase Social Security benefits across the board and pay for it by making the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share into the system.
The Alliance for Retired Americans is a national grassroots advocacy organization with 4.4 million members nationwide, including more than 30,000 in the 3rd Congressional District.
