NY State Attorney General Letitia James Addresses New York State Alliance
“Tish” James, attorney general of the state of New York, delivered a powerful address at the annual conference of the New York State Alliance for Retired Americans (NYSARA) on April 18, 2019 (Listen to her remarks courtesy of the Hudson Mohawk Magazine Network).
In describing her priorities and the services her office offers to seniors, Ms. James said, “Retirement security is a serious concern for many Americans and certainly many New Yorkers … hardworking individuals in our state are overwhelmingly not ready for the end of their careers.”
“We must work together to ensure that a comfortable retirement is not simply a luxury for the wealthy, but a reality for every individual in our state,” she added.
Other speakers at the conference included state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, NYSARA President Barry Kaufmann, Executive Director Steve Madarasz and national Alliance Field Manager Maureen Dunn.
The conference addressed issues such as Medicare changes, Social Security expansion, aging populations, poverty, multiemployer pensions, and the NAFTA 2.0 agreement.
