Retiree Group Endorses Sen. Joe Donnelly for U.S. Senate
Cites His Commitment to Protecting Earned Social Security and Medicare Benefits
Indianapolis, IN – Members of the Alliance for Retired Americans proudly announced their endorsement of Sen. Joe Donnelly for re-election to the U.S. Senate from Indiana today.
In making their endorsement, Alliance members cited Sen. Donnelly’s continued dedication as a senator who understands the issues facing seniors and retirees. He has earned a lifetime score of 92% in the Alliance Voting Record.
“Senator Donnelly’s positions on retiree issues demonstrate a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for older Americans,” said Richard Fiesta, Executive Director of the Alliance for Retired Americans. “His leadership on preserving and protecting Social Security and Medicare from benefit cuts will help ensure these programs will be around for current and future generations.”
“During the contentious health care repeal fight he introduced an amendment to protect Medicare from schemes like privatization or raising the eligibility age,” added Fiesta.
“He’s also a cosponsor of the Butch Lewis Act,” said Fiesta. “That would ensure that Hoosiers who have earned a pension through years of hard work will not see their plan go belly-up, costing them the benefits they are counting on.”
“Our members will work hard over the next few weeks to keep him in Washington fighting for us,” Fiesta concluded.
In addition, members cited Donnelly’s commitment to providing more affordable health care for older Americans, stronger retirement and pension security, and quality long term care. The Alliance has more than 132,000 members in Indiana.
