Livestrong Event - Columbus, Ohio
As Senator McCain spoke on July 24 at Lance Armstrong’s yearly summit on cancer, the Ohio Alliance made their presence known to highlight McCain’s poor record on Medicare, health care, and Social Security. Field organizer Norm Wernet, a cancer survivor, pointed out that, while McCain says he supports additional funding for cancer research, he voted against federal funding for cancer research at the James Cancer Center at Ohio State University Medical Center. The senator voted against the funds because they were considered earmarks, but Wernet says earmarks are not always bad and are an important source of cancer research funding.Ohio 13
